South Korea’s SK Telecom To Build Its First Web3 Wallet

The South Korean telecom company SK Telecom announced on Monday that it partnered with the blockchain companies AhnLab Blockchain Company and Atomrigs Labs to create and run a digital wallet for managing cryptocurrencies and providing access to Web3. SK Telecom will oversee the service product development and AhnLab Blockchain Company, situated in Pangyo, Gyeonggi. The blockchain division of AhnLab, an antivirus software maker, was established in April. The 2018-founded Atomrigs Lab is a leader in blockchain-related services. Atomrigs Lab’s Secure MPC encryption technology will fuel the new digital wallet service’s development and operation. Access to Blockchain-Issued Tokens Users of the SK Telecom wallet will have access to blockchain-issued tokens like cryptocurrencies, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and “soulbound tokens” (SBTs), which are permanent, non-transferable NFTs for verifiable identifications and certificates, as well as the ability to send and receive these tokens.
